Alaska Outdoor Rentals and Guides is conveniently located on the banks of the Chena River, so you can start your excursion right from our front door. After a leisurely paddle downstream we can pick you and your Canoe or Kayak up, and return you to your starting point at our shop. For a longer and a bit more rural excursion you can be dropped off at either the Nordale Road crosses of the Chena River or at Chena Lakes

Down Stream to the Pump House Restaurant: This a leisurely hour and half to two hour paddle that terminates and at one of Interior Alaska finest Bar and Grills. The Pump House is a beautiful historic site that has a great deck to lounge on and enjoy a great meal while waiting your pickup. Our shuttle runs to the Pump House on the hour. Since the shuttle is often full you do need to schedule your pickup time. Add an hour to your estimated arrival for time for lunch or dinner or schedule to be picked up around your estimated arrival time.

Cost For a Double Canoe or Kayak rental, PFD’s and paddles with return transportation is only $56. The canoe can easily hold 2 adult and two children. Although you may only be on the river for two hours (or less), allowed time for transport back and plan for at least 3 hours. The more boats in your party the cost goes down substantially. Nordale Road Drop Off: This drop off is about 12 miles up stream and usually takes between five and seven hours. This excursion terminates back at our shop. Pack a lunch and make a day of it.

Cost For a Double Canoe or Kayak rental, PFD’s and paddles with your transportation drop of is only $ 96. Plan for a full day between transport and time on the river.. Because of the length of this trip we usually transport to Nordale prior to our normally opening time. This will allow you enough time to make the trip and return the boat before we close. Thus all Nordale drop offs require a reservation the day prior to the time you plan on this excursion. Chena Lakes Drop Off: If your planning on doing the paddle from Chena Lakes back to our shop plan on two days on the river. There a plenty of good places to camp. The area between Chena Lakes and Nordale road is more of a local wilderness trip. Because this is one of the most wild and beautiful sections of the Chena River some people do a drop off at Chena Lakes and a Pickup at Nordale. Because of the logistics evolved in a late day pick up at Nordale Road the pick up cost is higher than the drop off cost.
